Week 10

 Happy 2/3rds ish of the fall semester!!

Last week, we stained the second filtered glass filter. In our initial filtrations, we collectively decided to refilter our wastewater salt solution (600ml of wastewater in a 200ml 5% NaCl solution.) My initial filtration consisted of 535mL, while my second filtration was 300mL. 

Conducting a second filtration will show us how many microplastics were successfully filtered the first time around. 

We stained with Nile-red dye once more and will see our results tomorrow! Just like our first filtration, our second one will be stained on the left side, while the right side will be placed under chemical analysis in the FTIR machine.
